Woods

“Any patch of sunlight in a wood will show you something about the sun which you could never get from reading books on astronomy. These pure and spontaneous pleasures are ‘patches of Godlight’ in the woods of our experience.”

― C.S. Lewis

The woods used to build my instruments can be divided in two categories, the ones that are protected by CITES (…….international treat endangered species), mainly Rosewoods, and the ones that are not. The species that are protected require certifications that are released by national authorities, to be detected, or exported with sale invoice.

NOT PROTECTED SPECIES

There are many beautiful domestic and exotic woods that fortunately are not in danger of extinction and are not protected yet.

Guitars built with this wood species can be traded and exported without need of certification.

  • Satinwood (Chloroxylon Swietenia, Ceylon)
  • Ziricote  (Cordia Dodecandria, Mexico)
  • Wenge (Millettia Laurentii, Central Africa)
  • Santos rosewood ( Machaerium Scleroxylon, Brazil)
  • Maple (flamed or bird’s eye), Cypress (only for Torres model)
